NAIRR Pilot (National AI Research Resource)

US National Science Foundation (with Microsoft, NVIDIA)

A US federal pilot giving qualifying researchers – including nonprofit and public-interest researchers – access to a shared catalog of AI compute, models, and datasets. The pilot phase concluded in January 2026; NSF has now stood up the permanent NAIRR Operations Center — led by the San Diego Supercomputer Center (UC San Diego) and the Texas Advanced Computing Center (UT Austin), on an award of up to $35M over five years. Watch for the successor program's first access calls.
