Accelerators

AI accelerators for nonprofits and social impact ventures

Cohort programs that combine funding, mentorship, technical support and a peer network for organizations building or adopting AI for social good. Unlike grants, accelerators usually want a working product or a clear adoption plan, and the value is often in the people and the credits rather than the cheque.

Three rough tiers show up in this list. Founder-style accelerators (Fast Forward, Google.org Accelerator, Blackbaud) suit tech nonprofits and mission-driven startups with an MVP. Adoption accelerators (NetHope, Agency Fund) are built for existing nonprofits that want to use AI well rather than build a product, and Agency Fund goes further by embedding engineers directly in your team. Regional and sector cohorts (Turn.io for WhatsApp health and education, Climate Collective, DPI Safeguards, Google Africa Applied AI Lab) are the most accessible for Global South organizations and often the least competitive.

Most accelerators recur annually, so a closed listing is worth reading: the next window often opens at the same time next year, and the criteria rarely change much.
