Free AI credits and compute for nonprofits and researchers
The fastest money on ImpactOpen is not money. Most major AI labs and cloud providers run standing programs that give verified nonprofits and academic researchers free or discounted model access, API credits and GPU time, usually on a rolling basis with a short application form and no competitive round.
For nonprofits the core stack is Claude for Nonprofits (Anthropic), Google for Nonprofits (Workspace with Gemini plus Cloud credits) and ElevenLabs Impact for voice. For researchers, OpenAI's Researcher Access Program, Anthropic's AI for Science program and AWS Cloud Credit for Research are the standing options, with EuroHPC AI Factories offering serious GPU allocations for EU-based teams. Public compute programs like NAIRR in the US and Isambard-AI in the UK run in cycles and are worth watching even when closed.
Verification is the usual bottleneck: most of these programs check nonprofit status through Goodstack, TechSoup or an equivalent, so getting that done once unlocks several programs at the same time.
